AERO RELIABILITY PROJECT
Proposed new 138-kV Transmission Lines and Substations
As part of our commitment to ensure reliable energy for the customers we serve in Kentucky, we have determined a need to make improvements to the electric transmission system serving the Boone County area. Among the proposed improvements is a new 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line - approximately two miles long that will connect the two new Aero and Woodspoint substations. This project will strengthen reliability and allow Duke Energy to meet the community’s growing energy needs for homes, community facilities and businesses.
The corridor on the interactive map shows the preferred route for the new transmission line. The route was identified following a June 19 open house to seek public input, followed by a 30-day public comment period.
Public feedback was among many factors invited and carefully considered in selecting the final route for the new transmission line, as well as overall impacts to property owners, the environment and the community.
