As part of our commitment to ensure a secure energy grid for Florida, we plan to construct a new substation and two new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines in Polk County, Fla. This project will directly connect Duke Energy’s Osprey Energy Center in the
city of Auburndale to the company’s high-voltage electric transmission system serving Duke Energy customers and the customers of other local utilities. Preferred routes have been selected and are shown here. The easement area will be determined by land surveying which will begin in January 2019 and continue for approximately six months.
The comments and feedback we received were a vital part of Duke’s comprehensive process for selecting routes for the new transmission lines. We have selected routes that will have the least overall impact to homes, personal property, businesses, the environment and the community.
