Pending Applications

  • Ohio Power Siting Board Regulatory Filing
  • Construction of new electric power transmission lines or existing transmission lines for operation at or above 100-kilovolts, and is greater than two miles in length.
  • Approximate 7-month review process.
  • The Ohio Administrative Code requires an applicant to submit fully developed information on two sites/routes for a standard certificate application. Each proposed site/route must be designated as a preferred or an alternate site/route. Each proposed site/route must be a viable alternative on which the applicant could construct the proposed facility.

Bethel - Sawmill Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to rebuild approximately 5 miles of power line in northwest Columbus and the Dublin Area. The upgrades are expected to improve electric reliability for customers and support economic development.

Culbertson 138 kV Station Project

Dublin West Innovation District Improvements

AEP Ohio plans to build about 3 miles of power line and upgrade two substations in the Dublin West Innovation District. This project will allow for existing businesses to compete and expand and provide for the possibility of future growth.

Hayden Transmission Station Expansion Project

Hillsboro - Lebanon Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio plans power grid upgrades in southeast Ohio to increase electric reliability for customers in Highland, Clinton and Warren counties. The Hillsboro - Lebanon Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding approximately 36 miles of power line and upgrading a substation.

Kirk - Jug Street 345 kV Extension Project

Wapakoneta Area Improvements Project

AEP Ohio proposes to build approximately 15 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, construct two new substations and expand an existing substation in Auglaize County.

Barnesville - Summerfield Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to rebuild a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to 138-kV in Marion and Beaver townships of Noble County, Millwood Township of Guernsey County and Warren Township of Belmont County. The new line connects the Barnesville Substation to Summerfield Substation. The Barnesville - Summerfield transmission line will be about 16 miles long. The company expects to invest approximately $20 million into this project.

Biers Run - Circleville Transmission Line

The Ohio Power Siting Board approved this 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line proposed by AEP Ohio to construct as part of the Biers Run Project. This new approximate 19-mile transmission line will be located Ross and Pickaway counties and will connect the Biers Run Substation to the existing Circleville Substation.

Eastern Ohio Tri-County Improvements

AEP Ohio is investing approximately $66 million in improvements to the power grid in Tuscarawas, Harrison and Carroll counties. Improvements create a 138-kilovolt loop in eastern Ohio essential to providing reliable electric. Enhancements are necessary as a result of an increase in economic development related to the shale gas industry in the area.

Fostoria - Fremont Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Seneca and Sandusky counties. This project involves rebuilding about 15 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to 138 kV standards.

Glencoe - Speidel Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to rebuild a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to 138-kV in Warren, Goshen and Smith townships in Belmont County. This line connects the Glencoe Substation to the Speidel Substation. The Glencoe-Speidel transmission line is about 13 miles long. The company expects to invest about $20 million in this transmission line upgrade.

Jackson - Ross County Area Improvements

AEP Ohio, along with AEP Ohio Transmission Company, plans to upgrade the electric transmission system in southern Ohio. This $75 million multi-phase project includes replacing and upgrading aging electrical equipment in Jackson and Ross counties.

Coal Township 138 kV Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Jackson County. The project includes upgrading about 4 miles of transmission line. The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $8 million.

Jackson Township 138 kV Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Ross and Jackson counties. The project includes upgrading about 10 miles of transmission line to 138 kV standards. The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $21 million.

Liberty 138 kV Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Ross county. This Project involves upgrading about 7 miles of transmission line. The company plans to invest about $17 million in this project.

North Jackson Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to upgrade about 4 miles of transmission line in the city of Jackson. The North Jackson transmission line is about 4 miles long. The company expects to invest $10 million in this transmission line rebuild project. This project is part of the Jackson - Ross County Area Improvements Project.

Northeast Jackson Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to upgrade about 5 miles of transmission line in the city of Jackson. The transmission line will be rebuilt within existing right-of-way. This project is part of the overall Jackson-Ross County Area Improvements Project.

Springfield 138 kV Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Ross County. This Project involves upgrading about 5 miles of transmission line. The company plans to invest about $8 million in this transmission line project.

Sardinia Area Improvements

AEP Ohio is improving the electric transmission system in Brown County. The project includes building 5 miles of new 138 kV transmission line, upgrading a substation, and removing about 12 miles of 69 kV transmission line. The projected investment in the transmission system is about $19 million.

Southeast Ohio Area Improvements

Speidel - Barnesville Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to rebuild a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to 138-kV in Warren Township in Belmont County. This line connects the Speidel Substation to the Barnesville Substation. The Speidel - Barnesville transmission line will be about four miles long. The company expects to invest about $5 million in this transmission line upgrade.

West Bellaire - Glencoe Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to rebuild a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to 69/138-kV in Pultney, Richland and Smith townships in Belmont County. The line connects the West Bellaire Substation to Glencoe Substation. The West Bellaire - Glencoe transmission line will be about 6 miles long. The company expects to invest approximately $10 million into this project.

Haviland - North Delphos Transmission Line

The Haviland-North Delphos 138kV Transmission Line Project upgrades the existing transmission line to improve the reliability of electricity to its customers. The project updates an aging infrastructure to improve its condition and address performance issues.

North Delphos - Rockhill Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio is upgrading the electric transmission grid in Putnam and Allen counties in northwest Ohio. The North Delphos - Rockhill Transmission Line Rebuild Project upgrades the existing transmission line to provide a reliable flow of electricity to its customers. The project updates an aging infrastructure to improve its condition and address performance issues.

Alton Area Improvements

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Franklin County north of Galloway and near Prairie Township. This project involves rebuilding about .5 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and building about 1.25 miles of 69 kV line.

Beartown - West Wilmot Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Tuscarawas, Stark and Holmes counties. The project involves rebuilding about 10 miles of power line.

Carrothers - Shelby Transmission Line Project

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Crawford, Seneca and Richland counties. This project involves rebuilding about 18 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. The projected investment in the transmission system is about $22 million.

Elliott - Strouds Run Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Athens County. The project involves rebuilding about 4 miles of power line to increase electric reliability in the area.

Findlay Area Improvements

AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades in northwest Ohio to increase electric reliability in the area. Representatives announced the Findlay Area Improvements in the summer of 2016, involving upgrades to the local power grid in Hancock and Wood counties.

Flushing - Smyrna Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to build a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in several townships in Belmont and Harrison counties. The Flushing - Smyrna transmission line will be about 13 miles long. The company expects to invest about $20 million in this transmission line upgrade.

Friendship - Portsmouth Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to build about 8 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Friendship and Portsmouth and rebuild about 14 miles of 69-kV transmission line between Friendship and Rosemount.

Glencoe - Somerton Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Belmont County. The project involves rebuilding about 21 miles of power line.

Guernsey - Harrison Power Improvements

AEP Ohio plans to rebuild about 24 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line from east of Cambridge to Smyrna. About 19 miles of the existing line will be rebuilt in the current right-of-way. The remaining 5 miles will require construction in new areas to accommodate a line reroute and require acquiring new easements.

Harpster - Waldo Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to rebuild about 30 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in Marion and Wyandot counties. The project will strengthen the electric infrastructure and improve electric service reliability for area customers. The company expects to invest about $40 million in this transmission line project.

Haviland - Van Wert Transmission Line Rebuild Project

The Haviland - Van Wert Transmission Line Rebuild is an approximate $20 million investment to improve the electric transmission system in northwest Ohio. The line connects the Haviland and Van Wert substations in Paulding and Van Wert counties.

Liberty - Buckskin Area Improvements

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Ross and Highland counties. The Liberty-Buckskin Area Improvements involves upgrading about 20 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. The company expects to invest about $30 million in this transmission line project.

Malvern - Minerva Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to update about 6 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line in Brown Township in Carroll County. About 5 miles will be rebuilt in AEP Ohio’s existing right-of-way. The remaining mile will require construction in new areas.

New Lexington - Shawnee Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to rebuild approximately 9 miles of power line in Perry County. These improvements increase electric service reliability in the area.

North Coshocton Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in Coshocton, Ohio. The project involves updating about 2 miles of power line.

North Wooster Area Reinforcements

AEP Ohio, along with AEP Ohio Transmission Company, is improving the electric transmission system north of Wooster. The approximately $14 million dual-phase project is essential to support economic development in the area and improve reliability by constructing a loop that creates redundancy.

Parlett - South Cadiz Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Harrison County. The project involves rebuilding about 10 miles of power line.

Peebles - Rarden Transmission Line

AEP Ohio plans to upgrade about 8 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in Meigs and Franklin townships in Adams County. About 3 miles will be rebuilt adjacent to the existing transmission line. The remaining 5 miles will require construction in new areas and acquiring new easements.

Pickaway - Madison Area Improvements

AEP Ohio plans to upgrade the electric transmission infrastructure in Madison and Pickaway counties. The two-phase project includes building about 7 miles of transmission line and rebuilding about 26 miles of transmission line. The company expects to invest about $50 million in this project.

Roseville Substation Expansion Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Perry County. The project involves expanding an electrical substation and upgrading about 1/4 mile of transmission line connected to the substation.

St. Clairsville Area Improvements

The St.Clairsville Area Improvements Project involves rebuilding approximately 15 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line in Belmont and Harrison counties. Wooden poles are being replaced with steel poles and new wire.
