This is a photo simulation of the future expansion of the Oakbrook Substation in Boone County, Ky. The expansion of the 69-kilovolt substation will provide capacity for the addition of a new 138-kV transmission line to serve the growing energy needs of the community – part of the Duke Energy Aero Reliability Project. The section shaded in blue is the electric portion of the substation and the section shaded in yellow is the new gas addition to the substation.
Photo simulations use photography and highly-detailed 3-D renderings to visualize how the future project will appear in the community. The 3-D renderings are set in the present landscape to provide “before and after” viewpoints. The landscaping around the substation – a beautification partnership with the Boone County Planning Commission – depicts how the views will look five years after planting.
Photo simulations are for discussion purposes only and may change, pending public, regulatory and/or utility review.
