In the Greater Portland region, Brightline (BES) has plans to upgrade or expand a number of existing substations (Gray, Freeport, East Deering Substation in Portland, Cape Substation in South Portland, and Pleasant Hill Substation in Scarborough.) The project also includes building two new substations in North Yarmouth and in the Bayside area in Portland.
The Greater Portland Reliability Project also includes a number of upgraded transmission line sections that run from Gray, North Yarmouth, Freeport, Cumberland, Falmouth, Portland, South Portland and Scarborough. Some of these transmission upgrades include building a new line while others include adding a new circuit to an existing line.
